Photo Contest Rules
Submission Guidelines
What do you think is worth
preserving in our community? Take a photograph of it and enter The Peak’s
third annual photography contest, and
you can win valuable prizes.
1st
Place. Click with the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North
for two nights in a luxurious casita guestroom, including dinner for two at the
Crescent Moon restaurant. In addition to its award winning spa, the resort
features a lagoon-style pool with complimentary poolside cabanas, golf at Troon
North, hiking at nearby Pinnacle Peak, and other amenities.
2nd
Place. Picture a delightful dinner for four with friends and/or family
at the Fairmont Princess’s La Hacienda restaurant. Rated
AAA 4 Diamond, La Hacienda is the resort’s gourmet Mexican restaurant.
The ambiance and decor at this turn of the century Mexican ranch house is only
surpassed by the culinary specialties from old colonial Mexico.
3rd
Place. Expose your Movie Gift Card from Regal Entertainment Group
and you’ll enjoy $25 in admissions and/or concession fare at participating
United Artist Cinemas, Regal Cinemas, or Edward Theatres.

In addition, the three finalists
win:
- Two $45 Adult Tickets for
Cookout at the Ranch XI, a
fun-packed evening that benefits desert preservation and the Desert Foothills
Scenic Drive. Co-sponsored by Outback Steakhouse and MacDonald’s Ranch, the
cookout will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2005.
- Publication of photographs in A Peek at the Peak
- Publication of photographs on GPA’s Web site
- Exhibition of photographs at
Cookout at the Ranch XI
- Recognition during the
Cookout at the Ranch XI program
Entries must be submitted by
July 31, 2006. Three finalists will be contacted by August 21, 2006, and their
photographs will appear in the September issue of The Peak and be
displayed on September 9th at Cookout at the Ranch XI.
Attendees (more than 400 are expected) at Cookout at the Ranch will be asked to
choose their favorite photograph, and a count of their ballots will determine
the order of finish.

Before you start clicking,
carefully review the contest rules below. Also, be sure to visit
www.gppaaz.org for contest news and updates. You’ll also find previous
winners posted on the site.
- The photograph must relate to the theme “What’s
Worth Preserving in Our Community.”
- The picture must be taken in The Peak’s
distribution area (North Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Carefree, north Phoenix,
or Rio/Tonto Verde).
- The photograph must be an original taken by the
person submitting the photo.
- Photographs will be judged based on quality,
composition, aesthetic content, and capturing the theme.
- Up to three photographs can be submitted by an
entrant. The minimum photo size is 4 x 6 inches.
- The photograph must be received by the Greater
Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA) by midnight, July 31, 2006.
- Three finalists will be contacted by August 21,
2006.
- Attendees at the Cookout at the Ranch XI will be
asked to choose their favorite finalist photograph, and a count of the
ballots will determine the order of finish, which will be announced as
part of the program. The event will be held on September 9th. The
finalists do not have to attend the cookout to receive their prizes.
- The style and tone of the photograph should be
consistent with photographs that are published in A Peek at the Peak
magazine.
- Contestants cannot be members of the GPPA Board of
Directors, members of their families, or regular photographic contributors
to The Peak. The decision of the judges is final.
- GPPA and A Peek at the Peak magazine reserve
the right to edit and publish submissions in the magazine and GPPA’s Web
site, www.gppaaz.org.

- The name, address, e-mail address, and photograph
title should accompany each photo. This information should be neatly
printed by hand or computer.
- Photographs can be sent via e-mail or mail.
- E-mailed photographs should be attached to a message
identifying the photograph. We prefer that photographs be sent as TIFF,
EPS or Jpg files. Files larger than two megabytes should be submitted on
CDs or a 3.5-inch computer disc formatted for IBM.
- Photographs, CDs and other submission materials
WILL NOT BE RETURNED UNLESS A PRE-ADDRESSED, STAMPED RETURN ENVELOPE IS
INCLUDED is included as part of the submission.
