Seasons Greetings,

We wish you a happy Holiday Season and New Year. We thank you for your generous support of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA) and Friends of the Scenic Drive. Because of the community we have been able to continue to fulfill our mission of supporting desert preservation, promoting wildlife conservation, supporting the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive, and protecting quality of life in the North Scottsdale Sonoran Desert.

As a result of your backing and the efforts of our volunteers, we have been able to continue publishing and enhancing A Peek at the Peak (The Peak) magazine, as a complimentary community service, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in February. In addition, your support enabled us to publish our monthly e-newsletter, E-Brief Monthly, and maintain our two Web sites, www.gppaaz.org and www.scenicdrive.org. Your support has helped us to use these publications to showcase the good work that is being done by local libraries, schools, and nonprofits, such as the Sonoran Arts League, Desert Foothills Theater, Arizona Musicfest, Foothills Animal Rescue, Cave Creek Museum, Heard Museum North, support our mission, and spotlight development and growth issues impacting our quality of life.

Your financial backing enabled us to organize Cookout at the Ranch XII, the desert preservation benefit that enabled more than 400 guests to learn about other organizations supporting preservation, wildlife conservation, and community activism. We also organized five Scenic Drive roadside cleanups, began work designing a new Desert Foothills memory exhibit, and assisted the Rotary Club of Pinnacle Peak in raising money for charities it supports.

During the past year, your involvement helped GPPA sponsor Southwest Wildlife’s “Wild About Wildlife” annual rehabilitation benefit and the Desert Foothills Land Trust’s annual concert in the desert. We also established a Peak Awards for Students program, a photo-journalism contests for local middle and high school students. For the second consecutive year, GPPA awarded an educational grant for environmental service to a college-bound Cactus Shadows senior.

Your support enabled us to make donations to Wild At Heart’s raptor rehabilitation program, the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, and Friends of Pinnacle Peak Park.

From GPPA’s officers, directors and volunte
ers, thank you very much! Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2008.
