“Together,
 we can safeguard our environment
and
enrich our quality of life.”

Founded in 1977, the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the natural environment and the enhancement of quality of life in the North Scottsdale Sonoran Desert. We support desert preservation, wildlife conservation, the arts, and education through our publications, community initiatives, student grants, and donations to local nonprofits.

We welcome new members. We invite you to become a GPPA Friend of the Community and receive membership benefits.

A Peek at the Peak magazine (The Peak)  is published as a community service by GPPA and supported by local business advertising and Friends of GPPA. In North Scottsdale, Carefree, Cave Creek, and Rio Verde Arizona,  The Peak provides a voice for local writers and nonprofit organizations. By writing and donating magazine features and news articles that appear in the magazine, amateur and professional writers provide the public with valuable community information that is not available elsewhere. Published articles, often written by members of the Scottsdale group, cover a variety of community-oriented subjects such as desert  preservation, wildlife, local organizations, travel, the arts, restaurants and City of Scottsdale planning,

Friends of the Scenic Drive, a division of GPPA, is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive, an area landmark since 1963. Friends organizes and funds projects to maintain the Scenic Drive, including maintaining plant identification signs and plant exhibits, painting utility boxes, posts and the backs of traffic signs using an environmentally-sensitive color, completing re-vegetation efforts and conducting roadside cleanups.
